Seattle Bound

After a stopping in Ashland and then Portland, we at last made it to our new home. We pulled in Tuesday, June 18th at about 1:00 and were welcomed with blue skies! (The blue skies only lasted the first day, but hey, we’ll take it!) 

Our apartment is perfect for what we need. It is just a few minutes north of downtown. It is furnished with everything we need and has nice furniture. There are also great places to go running in the area.

When we got here, we went shopping. We tried to find the nearest Wal-mart. It was about 20-30 minutes away. Then when we got there we discovered that they didn’t have much food! So then we went to Costco. This shopping journey took us most of the afternoon so we spent the evening relaxing and watching the NBA finals.

On Wednesday, June 19th, we packed a lunch and headed to downtown to go to the Space Needle. We went at a great time because there weren’t many people there. I love going on top of tall buildings and looking out over big cities.

From there we went to EMP which is a pop culture museum right next to the Space Needle. It’s not really my kind of museum because I’m just not into that stuff, but we did find a cool room where you could play a bunch of instruments. That was fun.

Afterwards we headed to the car and ate some lunch. Then we headed to the Pacific Science Center. With our city pass, we got to go to an imax documentary. We chose “Flight of the Butterflies” because we were told that wasn’t as loud for little Aves. It was still a bit much for Avery but we thoroughly enjoyed the film. It has been awhile since I have been to a 3D imax movie so I was loving it.

The rest of the museum was pretty fascinating. Unfortunately our parking meter was about to run out so we had to hurry through some parts of the museum that we could have definitely spent more time in.

After coming home we enjoyed some much needed naps, then hung out for the evening.

At night, we bundled up Avery in her pajamas, and headed back to the Space Needle. Our pass got us in twice in 24 hours. It was fun and exciting to go at night. It was a little chilly, but nice. It was a great first day of exploring Seattle!
