Whale Watching June 29, 2013

We headed up North Saturday morning to do a bit of whale watching. We got a groupon deal and decided to jump at the opportunity. Our whale watching cruise left from Bellingham, WA which is about an hour and a half north of us. We boarded at 10am and made our trek out around the San Juan islands. The islands are really beautiful and it was fun to learn a little bit about them. We finally made it the whales and it was so much fun. There were whales everywhere! I didn’t actually do a very good job of taking pictures. Sometimes you could see 4 or 5 whales at a time. Whenever  I tried to snap shots the whales would resurface in a different spot so it was tricky trying to time it right.

Avery did great. Towards the end she was kind of tired of being held but she was finally lulled to sleep by the loud engine in the back. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We did have to stay inside quite a bit because the wind was very chilly.

That evening we went to the bishop’s house for dinner. We LOVE our ward. Everyone is so friendly and great.

Columbia Center~June 25, 2013

We opted for a little more of relaxed day today. We hung out in the morning, then headed downtown to the Columbia building. The Columbia Center is 76 stories tall, the tallest building in Seattle and the 2nd tallest on the west coast. It was unfortunately under repair (the sky deck), so we couldn’t go all the way around. But we saw some pretty amazing views. In the evening we headed to the mall to eat at Panera bread (first time since my mission…yummm, my favorite), then did a little shopping. It was a nice last relaxing day before Bryce headed off to work on Wednesday.

Woodland Park Zoo June 24, 2013

We officially completed our City Pass today and went to the Woodland Park Zoo. We got there right as it opened and it was pretty deserted. A little wet but didn’t really rain so it was great. Avery slept most of the time, but the times she was awake she seemed to be somewhat fascinated…maybe.

Golden Gardens Beach and Walk around Green Lake June 22, 23

On Saturday, we went up to the Seattle Outlets in Marysville. It was huge and they had lots of great stores. We didn’t end up buying much but it was still fun to go shopping. It was packed too so that kind of deterred us from buying anything. In the evening, we decided to drive west and see if we could find a beach. Well we find one alright and it was packed. I could not believe how many people were there! You can’t really tell from these pictures but people just everywhere barbequing and having a good time. It was beautiful. This was at about 8 at night.

On Sunday, we were watching the worldwide training broadcast. Avery was on Bryce’s lap and we were both taking turns to entertain her. I started singing along to called to serve and Avery made this face. I didn’t know she was making it because of my singing I just thought she was sad about something. So I stopped singing and grabbed Bryce’s phone to take a picture and she wasn’t making the sad face anymore so Bryce said, just start singing again. Sure enough, as soon as I started singing again she frowned and looked at me. She did this again and again. It was pretty hilarious. We were both laughing pretty hard.

Sunday evening we took a walk around green lake. It is a beautiful lake located less than a mile south of us. I was surprised at how many people were there since it was raining but I guess people just learn to do things rain or shine here. PS, that’s our new but used $10 jogging stroller. The straps are a little big for Aves right now which is why it is kind of in her face.
