Last day in Hawaii

We had to check out of our place at 11:00 but our flight wasn’t until 10pm that night so we had a whole day to fill! We first went to the Hyatt where we had eaten dinner a couple nights before. It has this beautiful view of the ocean and some nice comfy seats to hang out on. Then we went to this farmer’s market and ate some VERY delicious lasagne and a yummy croissant. We then went and hung out near Spouting Horn again, just to chill and enjoy the beach. Finally we made it to the airport. I wanted to get there early because I was paranoid about getting past security with no id. But we actually got through rather quickly so we had a lot of time to kill at the airport! Oh well.

After fighting it for an hour, Avery finally fell asleep on the plane. Yay! We were sooo lucky to have an empty seat between us for her to sleep on.

It certainly was an unforgettable vacation and we feel very lucky to have gone on it and spent it with family. We had a great time all together before Josh left on his mission.

Kauai Part 2

We had heard about this falls that you could hike down to and swim at the bottom. We thought it was Wailua Falls. Turns out it wasn’t. We were pretty disappointed but at least we still got a great view of the falls. 

That evening we ate at a VERY delicious restaurant called Tide Pools. It was neat because it was surrounded by water and there was this bird that was trying to catch a fish right by our table.

Then one morning we headed up to North Shore. As soon as we got to Hanalei Bay and set up our stuff on the beach, it started to pour! Josh, Malory, Bryce and I were already in the ocean so we just stayed in and boogie boarded while everyone headed to the car. I LOVED boogie boarding the waves were nice and tiny for me :) It was also kind of cool to swim in the ocean in the pouring rain. Unfortunately we don’t have any pictures of this but we do have a couple pictures of this lookout point where we stopped on our way up.

Since North Shore was a bit of bust, we decided to head back and try to get our full beach day in so we headed to Poipu beach again. The boys had a blast boogie boarding with the sea turtles (we somehow managed to never get a picture of the boys boogie boarding) and Avery enjoyed playing in the sand and water while a few of us went snorkeling.

Kauai Part 1 {June 2014}

Kauai was much quieter and more secluded than Oahu. We stayed in a place called Koloa Landing at Poipu beach. We each had our own room, our own bathroom and then each apartment area had a kitchen, we had 2 apartments. Nichole, Tyler, Bryce, Avery and I stayed in one and everyone else was in the other. I loved going out on the porch and enjoying the beautiful scenery and the beautiful weather. Their pool was amazing. It was so big and there was part of the pool that only went up to Avery’s calves then another part that just went up to her ankles so it was perfect! They also had this big field with golfing and volleyball. We’re starting Avery young so she can be a soccer player like her daddy. We spent a little time at Poipu beach and went again another day (that I’ll post later).

     

 

After arriving in Kauai, the Pinders has scheduled a day to go on a catamaran. When we arrived there we found out that pregnant women were not allowed to go. I took Avery back to the hotel and she took a nap. It probably would have been difficult for a child anyway but it sure looked like fun! While on the Catamaran they saw little dolphins and went to a place to snorkel.

While everyone went to the Catamaran, Avery and I went and got a Poku dog. It’s a hot dog with mango sauce and some Hawaiian mustard. It was pretty good! And we did some laundry and swam in the pool (no pool pics from that day).

In the evening, after the catamaran, we went to a pizza place called Pizzetta and ate some delicious pizza. There were also some cool little gift shops that we walked around and looked at while waiting for our table. That’s when Bryce found the Hawaiian man statute.

   

On Father’s Day we made the boys breakfast, went to church then in the evening made a delicious dinner. We also went to this place called Spouting horn which was so beautiful, then stopped at this hotel on the way back that sits right near the water and walked around there. There were a lot of surfers there. It was so beautiful.

 

There were roosters and chickens everywhere…at our hotel, at the beach etc. Avery loved walking around and waving at people.
