Embroidered Notebook for Avery

I’m not sure where I initially got the idea, but I have wanted to get a notebook to write letters to Avery for a long time. There are just so many things I want to say to her that she doesn’t understand. I want her to know how I felt when she was born, and what life is like each day with her—all the funny things she does and the fun things we do together. Every time I was at the store I looked at notebooks and I could never find one that was the perfect fit. I finally got the idea to do an embroidered notebook from here. I felt like this was a craft that I might be able to pull off so I gave it a try.

I don’t have pictures of the step by step. But you can find it from this tutorial. I first was going to do Dear Avery, Love Mom but then I thought it would be neat if Bryce also wrote in the notebook.Or anyone who wants to write to Avery. I might have people write in it for her first birthday. I also was going to do some cute design or something but ended up not. Here are some of my rough sketches. I had about 10.

This may seem like a cheesy idea but I love to write and I haven’t written anything for a long time. So I figured I would find something to write that could be of worth to Avery some day.

You’ll have to excuse the picture quality. I accidentally left my camera at school so I just used Bryce’s phone to take pictures. Here is the finished product: IMAG1507

Happy 10 Months Baby Aves {January 9th, 2014}

These days, Avery is our little puppy. Here’s why:

  • She crawls on guests’ feet when they come over to our home.
  • We have to keep the bathroom door closed so that she won’t get in the toilet (or stand up next to it and put her mouth on it!)
  • She begs for scraps of food when we eat dinner at the table or any other time we are eating something, she crawls over and opens her mouth up and makes her little “I want food” noise.
  • She crawls all over the place.
  • She chews on EVERYTHING. Half our books have little bite marks on them.
  • She likes to nibble on your toes, or your fingers with her four little teeth.
  • She likes to torment the Pinder’s cat.
  • She loves to go outside on walks.

For her ten month pictures we ventured out into the cold to Bridal Veil Falls. The frozen falls were beautiful and we even saw ice climbers! Bryce took some of the following pictures as well. (the ones with me in them obviously and few of just Aves)

Science Works Museum and Happy New Year! {December 28-December 31}

I volunteered to go with my parents to Science Works Museum with all the grandkids, minus the babies. I’d like to say I did it out of the goodness of my heart but really I just wanted to go and see all the cool science stuff! It was pretty fun.

On New Years Eve we all went bowling. I was not feeling very well at all so I just sat with my blanket and my baby but I still enjoyed watching everyone bowl. I also joined in for a round of couples bowling. I won’t mention how Bryce and I did…

It was so awesome to spend Christmas with my entire family. It is pretty rare that we are all together so we certainly cherish these times. Thanks for the great photo Stacey!

Avery played with her new Christmas toy while I played with my new Christmas toy (a new lens for my camera). I never expected to enjoy taking pictures so much. I know that I am no good, but I still love it and intend on getting better! The first one is just funny, she usually ends up in the position when she loses her balance.
