Home Sweet Home

Bryce and I are so blessed to be able to rent this place from his Dad and Uncle. We love our cozy little house and feel quite spoiled. A lot of you have seen our place but I thought I would post some pictures for those of you who have not had the chance to come visit us.

Here is the outside of our house. The flower beds are much prettier during the spring. Our neighbors are Mexican and I guess they felt it was important to distinguish us from them so as you can see they put up a Mexican flag on their side and an American flag on our side. Once you go through the front door there is are two doors and ours is the one on the right. (See that building that is in the far left of the photo? That is where Bryce works…pretty convenient eh?!)

Our Living Room

Our Living Room is very big and long so we divided it into our T.V area, then our sort of dining room area. The door in the photo on the right leads to our kitchen.

The following is a picture of where Bryce spends many many hours studying. The one on the right is obviously our fireplace…sorry about the massive glare on the picture. Hanging above our fireplace is a picture of the Medford Oregon Temple where we got sealed. Stacey took the picture and my mom had it developed and framed and gave it to me for one of my bridal showers.

And last but not least our kitchen. I spared the pictures of our bedroom because it still doesn’t have anything up on the walls. Just a boring bed and dresser (although it is extremely nice furniture and I am glad to have such a nice bed!).

Happy Haunting!

We celebrated our Halloween by carving pumpkins, eating dinner, then giving away all our candy and turning the lights off so they would think we were gone.  It was a night to remember.

I was Fancy Nancy for school. I should show a picture of all my cute students but I need permission from the parents to do so.

IMG_1530IMG_1531IMG_1540IMG_1542

I attempted to spray paint a picture onto mine because I was too lazy to carve it. It didn’t go so well…

Here is a very boring video of a glimpse into our Halloween night.

Oceanside=Funside

(Try not to be too jealous of my extremely clever and witty title.)

During Fall Break (another benefit of being a teacher…bet you wish you were a teacher right about now…) Bryce and I got to go to Oceanside, California and spend a few days in a beautiful beach house with his family. If our beach house was any closer to the water, it would have been in the water! It was a perfect getaway. Bryce’s Family was there along with his Aunt Allyson and Uncle Ryan and their two kids. As well as his Uncle Scott and Aunt Pauline and their son Jude.

Thursday: We drove to Cali after Bryce’s class. We got there pretty late in the evening and just enjoyed seeing the place where we would spend our days of bliss.

Friday: We got up and watched the ocean from our gigantic windows then we headed into San Diego. We went to Sea Port Village to see some shops and walk along the bay. Once we got home lots of people went out on the boogie boards and surf boards. I wasn’t quite ready to venture in. Bryce did a great job at trying to stand up on the surf board. When we came in from all the fun outside we saw dolphins swimming in the ocean! In fact, we saw the dolphins pretty much every day we were there. They weren’t very far from the shore. It was awesome! We also saw a seal that scared a surfer, it was pretty funny.

Saturday: We went out to the pier in Oceanside and saw lots of fishing, and crab catching. It was a very foggy day. There was also a surf competition going on which was fun to watch. Saturday afternoon I hit the waves with Bryce and did some boogie boarding. It was tons of fun! That evening we ate at a great fish house. I had some most delectable salmon.  It was a great day in California.

Camille, Pauline and Malory                      On the Boogie Boards!

This is a great video of us boogie boarding and Bryce falling off. The entire time I boogie boarded, I never fell off. Bryce however, managed to do it quite a bit. But he also managed to stand up on the surf board, which I never even attempted :)

Sunday: Everyone else had left either Saturday night or Sunday morning so Bryce and I had the  place to ourselves. It was a fun relaxing day. We went and walked the San Diego Temple grounds then went to this great park in San Diego. It is Balboa park and so big and beautiful. While there we went to rose garden, a botanical garden, viewed various artist’s artwork and ate lunch. Then we ventured across a very big, awesome bridge over to Coronoda.

The trip was so fun! We are so lucky to have a family who loves us enough to let us tag along :)

CORNBELLYS!

It pays to be a teacher….well, not a lot :)…but I think the general public feels bad for teachers and their meager salaries so they give us all sorts of discounts/coupons. We got a coupon to Cornbelly’s so we thought we would go.

It was a fun night. The pictures explain themselves. We successfully completed the maze! I wanted to give up a few times but we did it. I usually cheat a lot or just go through the entrance--good thing I had Bryce with me or else I probably would have given up.

There was this one cool structure that had all sorts of sweet slides to go down. One time when I was going down the slide, I flew down it so fast that when I went to stand up at the bottom of the slide, I hadn’t totally gotten my balance and fell right on my face!! It was a pretty bad fall.  It was so embarrassing. Especially since the little kids were going down it just fine!

Goodbyes and Babysitting

Dave and Liz have officially moved to California. We are pretty sad to see them go. We all had a get together just prior to them leaving at the Packer residence. Becky made some delicious homemade pizza, and we played some games. It was good times.

Here is our last picture we will ever have together of us all living in Utah. Now there are more Morris children living outside of Utah than in. Becky and I are the last ones standing.

Bryce and I babysat the Packer children on Friday night. We were a little nervous about it since the last couple of times little Ry-guy has screamed his little head off for the majority of the time. However, this time went great. Both the boys were great the whole time. Ryan hardly ever cried and if he did cry it was just funny because he has a cold and sounds like an old man. Bryce played memory with Bennett and it was pretty entertaining. He had Bryce wrap the blanket around him a specific way because he was cold. I was sitting on the couch holding Ryan and Bennett told Bryce that he needed to “get Mill a blanket”. When they played he would turn over about ten cards at once and pick out the matches. We try to babysit for Becky and Nate whenever they ask so that if we ever have kids while they are still around, they will return the favor :)

Kindergarten Quotes

Every now and then I have to post some quotes my kindergartners say. Something hilarious is said every day, I just always forget to write them down. 5 year olds are the BEST! Here are just a few:

One of my boys walks over to me with one of his shoes and sock in his hands, then puts his foot in the air “Mrs. Pinder! I have an itch on my foot! Can you scratch it?!”   My reply “I’m not scratching your dirty foot, you scratch it.” “But if I scratch it, it won’t stop itching!”

Can anybody think of a word that starts with “v” that I can draw on our “v” page….”virgin!”….ummm, I’m not going to draw that one…

me:  “What if we had 11 and we took away one?”  student: “Then we would give it back”

“Simon says put your hands above your head…Scratch your head” (some students scratch their head) “Uh oh! I tricked some of you, I didn’t say “Simon says”” “Mrs. Pinder! I was just scratching my head because it itched!”

“Mrs. Pinder? Do you think I am the cutest girl in your class?”

Mr. Pinder?” “You mean Mrs. Pinder?” “Yeah…Mr. Pinder?”…I try not to take offense :)

One student to another: “I wish I was Samantha so that I could run faster” “Well if you were me you could run even more faster!”

Go Cougars!

We decided to splurge this year and get season football tickets/all sports passes even though it costs an arm and a leg for a non-BYU student! The first home game of the year was of course disappointing as BYU was crushed by Utah but it was still exciting to be there with all the fans. Our seats were right next to where the players come out so I snapped some pictures and took some video because it doesn’t happen every game that you get to sit by the tunnel!

We rode our bikes to the game and stopped by J-dawgs first to eat some delicious hot-dogs. It was great fun.

We also found out that we were only a few rows away from Becky and Nate so that was fun to go chat with them during half time. They really love the marching band so they wanted me to take a picture of them with the marching band.

Watching the Cougs come out to their first home game of the season.

IMG_1443IMG_1444

I missed the second home game, the one they actually won, to go to my cousin Lisa’s reception. We were glad we were able to go and support her. Everything looked beautiful and she had similar colors to me except they was no yellow and they looked like fall colors. When they went to cut the cake I ran outside to grab my camera and came back in only to discover they had already cut and eaten it. I blame Becky for telling me I had enough time. I meant to capture some pictures of her reception but they all turned out too dark so here are a couple of Bennett and Ryan who also attended the reception with us while our husbands went to the BYU game.
