We arrived in Vancouver, BC around 5:00pm. We checked into our Airbnb then headed to a grocery store to buy some food for the weekend. That was an interesting trip to say the least. We first had to find the store. Then when we got there, you had to have a loonie, or a one dollar coin to get a cart which we didn’t have so we had to go without a cart. Shopping with two little kids at a new grocery store is a bit of a nightmare. Dallin just kept yelling “Walk!” and when we’d set him down he’d run all over the store pulling everything off the shelves. Avery did her own fair share of running through the store. It was a bit stressful but we got out of there alive with some food.
The next morning we rented some bikes and a trailer and rode around Stanley park. This was definitely one of our favorite things we did the whole trip. It’s a six mile loop next to the water and it’s gorgeous. The kids were perfectly happy riding in the trailer. We stopped a couple times and Avery especially wanted to go to the beach. The next morning I got up early and ran around the park twice as part of my half marathon training for a total of 12 miles. It was pouring rain but a beautiful run.
After the park, we went home and had naps-Avery went outside to play with the Airbnb host’s daughter. Then we headed out to the White Spot for dinner. It was a great place for kids and delicious food.
Our host had left a couple toys for our kids which was great. Avery had fun making this lego tower…err rather I had fun making the lego tower as she ditched out about half way through. The second picture is great because the tower fell on the kids right as I was taking the picture. You can see the tower falling and their unsuspecting faces.
The next morning after I got back from my run, we went to the aquarium. We did not go prepared as we had no coats and no umbrella! It was pouring rain and we had to park far away. Needless to say, we were all drenched by the time we go into the aquarium but it was an awesome aquarium-the kids had fun exploring. Avery said her favorite was the Jellyfish.
After the aquarium we came for naps again, then we went to Granville Island where they have some fun kid stores. We got some food at a market there then stopped at Safeway on the way home for some delicious donuts.
On Sunday we went to Lynn Canyon Park to do the suspension bridge and a short hike. It was beautiful and crowded! It was the perfect hike for the little ones.
On Sunday we also went on a walk along the water and Avery saw this park so we stopped for a bit.
On Monday we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and go to the beach. Turns out it was still quite cold so we didn’t stay long. We just ate lunch and the enjoyed the scenery. The kids wouldn’t even take their coats off.
This is the house we stayed in. It was a duplex and we stayed downstairs. It was perfect for our family. Bryce didn’t think the sign that said Welcome to the United States was that cool but I thought it was!
