We started out our trip by stopping by Wallace Falls State Park to hike in and see the falls. The hike was about 4 1/2 miles round trip. We borrowed a couple hiking backpacks from friends in our ward. The kids did fantastic! They never complained and happily road in the packs the whole time. We stopped at the lower falls to eat a snack. It was pretty crowded. Lots of people enjoying the nice weather to hike into the falls. At the conclusion of our hike we ate some lunch before heading onto Leavenworth.
On our way to Leavenworth the kids slept in the car. When we arrived we checked into our hotel and they gave us a suite even though that’s not what we paid for. It had couches, a tv, a dining room and a huge kitchen. Avery said “I like this house!”
After we checked in we hurried to the pool. They had it covered with this dome tent thing. We were the only ones there and the kids had a blast. We finally convinced it was time to go in and see the town.
Leavenworth is such a cute little Bavarian town. We first went to the nutcracker museum. It was just as you’d expect—lots of nutcrackers!
We then walked around and Avery wanted to go into every single store. She’d notice when we tried to skip a store. Then we found a great little German place for dinner: Munchen Haus. It was perfect. We ordered some brats, and a pretzel and some coleslaw and some delicious lemonade.
After dinner we strolled down to the Waterfront Park. It wasn’t very exciting.
Then we headed over and got some ice cream at some famous place to get ice cream. It was delicious and the perfect night for ice cream. Everyone had ice cream in town!
From there we called it a night and headed back to our hotel to relax and go to bed. It was great trip!
