We don’t really have a spring break since I’m not in school and Bryce certainly doesn’t get any time off but Jessica mentioned she was going to California for her Spring break with my parents so I asked if we could tag along. So Avery, Dallin and I drove to Jessica’s on Saturday March 21, then from Jessica’s to Ashland on Sunday then to Cali on Monday. So it was a lot of driving those first few days but it was all worth it!
On Saturday we enjoyed hanging out with the Malans. Avery always loves being there and playing with those boys who are so good to her. She never cries or whines when we’re there because she is so entertained…except for when there are flies. At dinner there was a fly flying around and Avery freaked out. She just cried hysterically and covered her face. Silly girl. She also learned how to climb out of the pack ‘n play so needless to say nap time was a bit of a joke and she made big messes!
In California, Jessica and her 4 boys, my parents and myself and the kiddos shared a hotel room. There were 3 queen beds but one of the beds was in a joining room. It was fun to all be together and we weren’t there much but the nights were a little sleepless. Mostly because Dallin and Avery woke up a lot so really it was my own kids’ fault.
We got to Dave and Liz’s Monday evening and just had dinner and hung out at their place for a bit. Dallin was lucky to be entertained by his cousin Landon!
Tuesday we took a trip into San Francisco. We got some fish and chips on the pier, saw the sea lions and walked around. We drove down Lombard street then we headed over to the Golden Gate Bridge. Avery was asleep in the car so she kind of missed that. That evening we had pizza by the pool. It was beautiful out and no kids fell in the pool luckily.
Wednesday we headed to the beach at Santa Cruz. It was the most perfect, beautiful day. My mom was a saint and held Dallin forever while he napped. Avery loved playing in the sand, especially with her cousin Olivia. They had fun burying each other’s feet. We ate lunch down there and Jessica’s boys had fun playing in the water and watching the sea gulls. When we were getting ready to leave Davis said he had buried his sandals and by some miracle Jess found them buried in the sand! It was quite the enjoyable beach day!
Dave and Liz let me borrow their beach tent for Dallin which was sooo nice and Avery fell asleep eating a rice krispy treat on the way home home. It was almost 4:00 by that time so she was overdue for her nap.
On Thursday we drove back to Ashland but not before taking a dip in the pool. Dave and Liz live in this nice complex and the pool was great! It was a little chilly but not bad. Avery loved jumping in off the side. And good news, her swim suit still fits from last year! We had a blast in Cali and were glad we could go visit.
